A former bank teller at a SunTrust Banks Inc. (NYSE: STI) branch in Columbus, Ga., is sentenced to 18 months in prison after cashing approximately 361 fraudulent U.S. Treasury tax refund checks that claimed $780,760 in tax refunds. Vicky Wheeler, 55, was approached while working at the bank by several co-conspirators who wanted her to cash fraudulently obtained tax refund checks in exchange for a fee, according to the U.S. Department of Justice.
